ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hello :) I’m Mitra, the designer and founder behind Mitraya Jewelry. I am currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. My love for jewelry making started when I was around 11/12 years. My mother’s best friend, who owns a bead shop in Japan, taught me how to make beaded jewelry. Every time we’d go back to Japan to visit my mother’s side of the family, a huge highlight was visiting her friend’s shop. I I pursued my hobby for about 9 years, selling my creations to friends and family, and at craft markets. During the pandemic, I moved back home with my parents and found our I had a closet filled with old beads. I started playing around, making myself jewelry (I wanted something unique that nobody else had), and decided to then share my creations with the world once again, and MITRAYA was born in the Fall of 2020. (My inner child is quite happy ;)).

For as long as I can remember, fashion has been a huge part of my life and a way to express my personal style. I love how accessorizing can enhance even the simplest of outfits and completely change your mood and vibe. My hopes with MITRAYA is to create beautiful, unique pieces that embody who you are and make you feel powerful and special, as you are!

Mitraya, is a Sanskrit name, pronounced “Ma-try-a”, and she is the Vedic sun goddess of love and affection. I hope your inner goddess will shine bright each time you wear your earrings, and remind you to share your love with others and yourself.
